Southend Choral Society was formed in 1943 at the request of the Essex County Welfare Committee for the recreation of Service personnel. The Choir consists of about 100 Singers, mixed voices, with ages ranging from 16 to 90, and offers a warm welcome to all newcomers. The Choir usually presents 4 concerts each year, two with the Southend Concert Orchestra, A Summer Concert with soloists, and a Family Christmas Concert with a Children's Choir and a Brass band, usually the Southend Band.

Under its present Conductor Roger Humphrey the Choir continues to flourish and is constantly expanding its repertoire. The Society is always pleased to welcome new members. Rehearsals are every Thursday during term-time, 7.45 to 9.45pm, at Prince Avenue Primary School, Hornby Avenue, Westcliff-on-Sea, see GoogleMaps for how to get there.
